1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of ScholarOn, an educational website operated by Utenix Technologies Pvt Ltd ("ScholarOn", "we", "us" or "our"). By using ScholarOn, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

2. Who can use ScholarOn

Anyone may read ScholarOn's articles without an account.

To create an account, post comments or subscribe to our newsletter, you must be 18 or older, or have the consent of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. ScholarOn is not directed at children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account or subscribe. By creating an account or subscribing, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has signed up without your consent, contact legal@scholaron.com and we will remove the account.

3. Your account

  • Give accurate information and keep it up to date.

  • Keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity on your account, and you should tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it.

  • Accounts are personal; do not share or transfer yours.

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, put others at risk or are inactive for a long period.

4. Educational content, not professional advice

ScholarOn publishes general educational information about studying, learning, teaching and related topics. Our articles are not medical, psychological, legal, financial or other professional advice, and they are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your circumstances.

  • No guaranteed results. Study methods and schedules work differently for different people. We do not guarantee any grade, exam score or outcome.

  • Check official sources. For exams, admissions and courses, always confirm dates, formats, rules and requirements with the official body or your institution, as these change.

  • Research evolves. We summarise published research as accurately as we can, but findings can be revised, and a summary cannot capture every detail of a study.

  • Health and wellbeing. If you are struggling with anxiety, sleep, attention or other health concerns, please speak to a doctor or another qualified professional.

5. How our articles are made

Some ScholarOn articles are drafted with the help of artificial-intelligence tools. Every article is based on research we gather for it: studies are checked against scholarly databases, statistics must come from our sources, and a separate fact-checking step compares the article with its sources before publication. Cited sources are listed at the end of each article.

Despite these checks, errors can happen. If you spot one, please tell us at legal@scholaron.com or through our contact page, and we will review and correct it.

6. Acceptable use

When using ScholarOn, you must not:

  • break any law, or help anyone else to;

  • harass, threaten, impersonate or harm others, or post hateful, sexually explicit, violent or otherwise harmful material;

  • post spam, advertising or promotional links, or use the contact form or newsletter for anything other than their purpose;

  • post other people's personal information, or content you do not have the right to share;

  • try to gain unauthorised access to ScholarOn, other accounts or our systems, or interfere with the website's security or operation;

  • scrape, copy or harvest content or data in bulk using automated means (search engines indexing the site in line with our robots.txt are welcome), or use our content to train artificial-intelligence models without our written permission;

  • upload viruses or other malicious code.

7. Comments and other content you post

You keep ownership of the comments and other content you post ("your content"). You are responsible for it, and you confirm that you have the right to post it.

By posting, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, format and distribute your content on ScholarOn for as long as it remains on the website. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies we must keep for legal reasons.

Comments are public and moderated. We may review, edit for length or formatting, hide or remove any content, and restrict accounts, where we believe it breaks these Terms or is otherwise inappropriate. We are not obliged to monitor content, and comments reflect the views of their authors, not ScholarOn.

8. Our content and intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, the articles, design, logos and other material on ScholarOn belong to Utenix Technologies Pvt Ltd or our licensors. Some images come from third parties such as Unsplash and are used under their licences, and research papers we cite belong to their authors and publishers.

You may read, share links to and print articles for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may quote short excerpts with credit to ScholarOn and a link to the original article. You may not republish full articles, create competing collections of our content, or remove copyright or attribution notices, without our written permission.

"ScholarOn" and our logo are our trade marks. Please do not use them in a way that suggests we endorse you or your product.

We respect intellectual property. If you believe material on ScholarOn infringes your copyright, email legal@scholaron.com with the subject "Copyright notice" and include:

  • a description of the copyrighted work;

  • the web address of the material you believe infringes it;

  • your name, postal address, email address and telephone number;

  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;

  • a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner;

  • your physical or electronic signature.

We will review valid notices promptly and remove or disable access to infringing material where appropriate. We may close the accounts of repeat infringers.

10. Newsletter and emails

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will send you the emails you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every newsletter. If you have an account, we will also send essential account emails, such as sign-up confirmations and password resets.

11. Links, embedded content and sharing

ScholarOn links to research papers and other websites, and some articles embed content such as YouTube videos. We are not responsible for third-party websites, services or content, and their own terms and privacy policies apply. Our share buttons open the relevant social network; your use of that network is governed by its terms.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information. It forms part of these Terms.

13. Changes to ScholarOn

We may change, add or remove features and content, or suspend or discontinue all or part of ScholarOn, at any time. We aim to keep the website available but do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.

14. Disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ScholarOn is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Utenix Technologies Pvt Ltd and its directors, employees and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of data, opportunity, marks, grades or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use ScholarOn or from reliance on its content.

ScholarOn is free to use. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to ScholarOn is limited to INR 5,000 (or its equivalent in your currency). Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

16. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to compensate us for reasonable losses and costs, including legal fees, arising from content you post or from your breach of these Terms or of the law.

17. Ending your use

You may stop using ScholarOn and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or if we need to for legal or security reasons. Sections that by their nature should continue, including sections 7 (licence for content that remains), 8, 14, 15, 16 and 18, survive the end of your use.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us at legal@scholaron.com so we can try to resolve the issue informally. Subject to any mandatory rights you have under the laws of the country where you live, the courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute relating to these Terms or ScholarOn.

19. General

  • These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about ScholarOn.

  • If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

  • If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not waived it.

  • We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms as part of a reorganisation or sale of our business. You may not transfer yours without our consent.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, give notice on the website or by email where appropriate. If you keep using ScholarOn after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.
